this short video is the view of Kirkcudbright Bay from Dhoon Bay, just a five minute drive from Kirkcudbright.  The coast just here is gently bathed by the warm Gulf Stream, keeping the climate mild year round.  Dhoon Bay is ideal for water sports, fishing and sunbathing. or for just taking a gentle stroll...
If you don't fancy that, the Chambered Cairn at Cairn Holy... is under 10 miles away... a memorable and mystical place.

The Orchardton Tower House... is under 12 miles away. An excellent well preserved example of a semi-fortified Manor House... and wherever you go there are the views...

 


There are ample attractions in the area to keep everyone happy...  Try the Galloway Smokehouse on the A75 towards Newton Stewart for some spectacular smoked food...  spoil yourself... go on... you can even order from them on-line... Or go for a mini cruise on the river... or into the bay

Visit the most southerly Distillery in Scotland for a soft fragrant taster...

Watch the sailing on Loch Ken... or drive the 'Raiders Road' Forest drive toll road (spectacular with the autumn colours) and look out for the birds of prey...  Visit the Creetown Gem Rock Museum...  Threave Gardens... (National Trust Scotland)  or just kick sand on the beach...  a week probably won't be long enough...
